The Air Jordan 12 Wings releases Saturday, an utterly stunning new style on the iconic XII. The colorway starts out classically simple, with a white sole and forefoot contrasting a sleek black leather upper; a nod to one of the AJ12’s OG colorways. But then there’s that gold. . . .
Cutting an opulent swath across the upper, metallic gold accents pop on the eyelets and midfoot stripe, the latter emblazoned with the word “WINGS.” Underscoring that theme, golden wing graphics are emblazoned under the surface of the upper, revealed only when the shoe is scuffed, wiped and rubbed off. Those same graphics appear through the black translucent outsole, and tags on either heel feature Michael Jordan’s wingspan in silhouette — a nod to the famous MJ poster dubbed, you guessed it!, “WINGS.”
